This year, we are excited to offer multiple writing and math enrichment courses, SAT Prep courses and added additional courses including Grammar, English Composition, Public Speaking and Creative Writing, as well as summer evening courses! Additional Services

Extended Care ($625 for 3 weeks) 

Description: Available for AM and PM campers. Students in AM camp may stay until 1:30pm. Students in PM camp may stay until 6:00pm. Camp assistants are available for homework help during this time if needed.

Critical Reading & Writing  

Grades: 2-10 

Course Description: At each level, students will read, analyze, discuss, write, debate, and complete projects about a carefully selected, above-grade level novel or book. Teachers will guide the exploration of the text and bring fresh and challenging insights to class discussions. Students may attend a virtual field trip, listen to podcasts, and watch TedTalks as they sharpen their reading, thinking, and writing skills. Registration Notes: It is highly encouraged for new students to complete a placement test upon registration. Students may be asked to purchase the assigned novel. Details will be shared prior to the first day of class. 

Math  

Grades: 2-10 

Course Description: At each level and subject, students will master topics necessary to excel. Instructors will provide lessons and homework will be assigned daily. It is imperative students complete the homework in order to practice and apply concepts taught for that day. Quizzes and tests will also be implemented to help students track their progress.  Registration Notes: It is highly encouraged for new students to complete a placement test upon registration. Generally, instructors are able to cover at least the first semester of the math subject, giving students a preview of the upcoming school year. 

SAT/PSAT Math & Verbal ($1,575) 

Grades: 7-11 

Course Description: Our popular SAT/PSAT test preparation course during the summer provides students with an intense and rigorous learning experience. Students can expect to take a practice test the first day of class as well as towards the end of the three weeks to track progress. Our highly experienced instructors focus on both content as well as test-taking strategies to help students achieve an understanding of how standardized tests work but also achieve a high score. Registration Notes: It is generally recommended that students who sign up for our SAT/PSAT prep sign up for both Math and Verbal. Consumables and other materials will be provided by APLUS. Students should expect to complete all assigned homework for an optimal learning experience. Given that the SAT test is slated to be completely digital by year 2024, our testing procedures may change. Details will be shared as we approach the start date of the course. 

Algebra I Intensive ($775)

Grades: Anyone going into Algebra 2 in 2024 Fall, or needs a review. 

Course Description: Success in Algebra 1 is critical to move forward to Algebra 2 and even Calculus. This comprehensive refresher course will help students understand all of the topics within Algebra 1, including (but not limited to): linear equations, inequalities and systems, functions, exponential functions, and quadratic equations. Quizzes, tests, and interim reports will be used to help students track progress.  Registration Notes: Because this class is an intensive review, students should have had at the very least, some exposure to the topics. It is therefore recommended that students have taken Algebra 1 before taking this course. 


PM Camp ($1,250)

Algebra I Intensive

Grammar 

Grades: 3-10 

Course Description: In this beginners course, students will learn the eight different parts of speech and how they function in writing. All course content is selected with an eye toward future testing scenarios where students will be expected to use these parts of speech correctly. Content delivery will be student-centered with a focus on high-interest, high-engagement activities. Registration Notes: Students may be asked to purchase some consumables and short story books. Details will be provided prior to the first day of class, including which level your student will be placed in. 

English Composition 

Grades: 3-10 

Course Description: Our composition courses help students develop writing skills that will help them throughout their academic careers. Students learn how to structure a paragraph and/or essay, build an argument and establish a line of reasoning, and write stylistically elevated paragraphs and/or essays. Students may also write in other forms, including letters, articles, and speeches. Registration Notes: It is highly encouraged for new students to complete a placement test upon registration. Students may be asked to purchase any assigned reading material. Details will be provided prior to the first day of class, including which level your student will be placed in. 

Creative Writing 

Grades: 3-10 

Course Description: Students will delve into the fundamentals of creative writing, such as tone, plot, point of view, dialogue, and character development; while honing their craft through engaging activities, prompts, and projects. This course is designed to foster a love for writing, ignite creativity, and empower students to express themselves through various forms of the written word. Registration Notes: Students may be asked to purchase relevant texts and/or materials. Details will be provided prior to the first day of class, including which level your student will be placed in. Class activities and assignments will be adapted to suit the age and skill levels of the students.  

Public Speaking & Communication 

Grades: 3-10 

Course Description: Students will learn the elements of effective public speaking and daily communication, with an emphasis on preparation, research, organization, writing, and delivery. Students will also study historically famous speeches and discuss why they are/are not effective. Class will include strategies for dealing with public speaking anxiety. Discussion participation is a large component of the course.  Registration Notes: Students may be asked to purchase relevant texts and/or materials. Details will be provided prior to the first day of class, including which level your student will be placed in.

EXCELERATE is a dynamic summer program designed to equip students transitioning from middle to high school with essential skills in high school-level writing, executive functioning, and project-based learning. 

Develop proficiency in high school-level writing, including essay structure, thesis development, evidence incorporation, and citation. 

Enhance executive functioning skills such as time management, organization, goal-setting, and task prioritization. 

Engage in project-based learning activities to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. 

Facilitate a smooth transition from middle school to high school by providing students with the necessary academic and organizational tools.

Summer Evening Programs 

Pre-Calculus ($1,250) 

Dates: July 15 - August 15 (5 weeks) 

Times: Mon-Thurs | 5:00-7:00pm 

Grades: 8-10 

Course Description: Another one of our popular evening courses, Pre-Calculus has helped students gain an understanding of critical topics such as trigonometry, complex numbers, rational functions, and more, to succeed during the academic school year.   Registration Notes: If needed, textbooks (on a loan basis) and materials will be provided by APLUS. Details will be shared prior to the first day of class. 

AP Calculus BC ($1,375)  

Dates: July 15 - August 15 (5 weeks) 

Times: Mon-Thurs | 5:00-7:00pm 

Grades: 10-12 

Course Description: By popular demand, we are offering this course to help students get ahead. The instructor will provide detailed lessons on differential and integral calculus, including reasoning and analysis. Students will be expected to complete assigned homework and participate in class discussions. Registration Notes: Prerequisite is Pre-Calculus. Students may need to purchase workbooks and/or textbooks. Details will be shared prior to the first day of class. 

SAT Prep ($1,575) 

Dates: July 29 - August 22 (4 weeks) 

Times: M/W/F | 5:00-8:00pm* 

Grades: 8-11 *last week will end on a Thursday instead of Friday 

Course Description: Our evening SAT Prep is primarily geared towards preparing students for the actual SAT test in late August. The combination of instructional lessons on content featured on the SAT as well as test-taking strategies and tips and 3 practice tests leave students feeling confident and knowledgeable.  Registration Notes: This course is perfect for those who plan on taking the actual SAT test on 8/24. All materials will be provided by APLUS. 


Summer Boot Camps 

SAT Boot Camp ($1,250) 

Dates: August 12 - August 22 (2 weeks) 

Times: Mon-Fri | 5:00-8:00pm 

Grades: 11-12 

Course Description: Our advanced SAT Boot Camp course is perfect for those who already have experience with the SAT and do not need comprehensive lessons. The course consists of 5 practice tests and 5 test reviews over 2 weeks. Since 2016, this course has been extremely successful in boosting students’ SAT scores and has also become an excellent preparation course for juniors and seniors who plan on taking the SAT soon (within a month after completing the course). Registration Notes: This course is perfect for those who plan on taking the actual SAT test on 8/24. All materials will be provided by APLUS.  

College App Essay Boot Camp ($1,000) 

Dates: August 12 - August 22 (2 weeks) 

Times: M/W/F | 5:00-7:00pm 

Grades: 11-12 

Course Description: Primarily designed for rising seniors, our college app essay boot camp course is focused on helping students complete their Common Application and Coalition essays. Registration Notes: Students will need to have their own laptop to participate in this course.
