Just a few weeks ago, my daughters and I had the opportunity to watch a musical at Imagination Stage called Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience this show teaches a lesson about stepping outside of your comfort zone and honoring wanting more out of your life. Wilbur mole loved the idea of wearing clothes. He was delighted when an opportunity to do that fell upon him, literally, from the sky.
This was so delightful for Wilbur, he shared this dream, this passion to put ensembles together and wear them with his friends, but they weren't as accepting.
In this show, I noticed that it was catered to both the children and the parents. There were so many life lessons of acceptance and just trying new safe things. There were lessons about it being okay to step outside of your comfort zone by yourself, even when no one else is ready to jump with you. It also teaches that it is great to ask questions and while it's completely okay to be scared, it is also okay to take a leap of faith. It also teaches that everyone can be unique, be comfortable in their skin and/or new skins (clothes) without others having to join as well.
What I loved most about this show was how interactive it was, there are some modern parent references (hint: Starbucks), so not only were the kids laughing, but I was too as were many other parents! Some even cackling LOL! I also loved how accepting all of the naked mole rats and the master naked mole rat became. I truly hope you all head to see this show, it will be out for a few more days!
