Off the Beaten Path - BubbleWorksDC at CityCenterDC

Experience Open through July Only!

By Beth Korman, Macaroni Kid Rockville-Gaithersburg Ambassador July 23, 2021

As a mom of an active four year old, I am always looking for fun and engaging activities for my son around town. I often take my son to run through the fountains at CityCenterDC. In July, the fountains are even more special and invigorating, with the recent installation of  BubbleworksDC

The fountain is transformed into a wonderland of dancing bubbles set to music. My son ran around, twirling with delight, and bouncing with the bubbles that surrounded him. I was also mesmerized by the beautiful bubbles as they wafted around me. This show is not to be missed.

The show has toured world wide and DC is lucky to have this interactive experience which runs for 10 minutes at the top of every hour from 1-7 pm Monday through Thursday and 1-8 pm Friday through Saturday throughout July.

While in the area, there are many restaurants nearby and a lot of shopping opportunities. We enjoyed lunch at the FRESHFARM CityCenterDC Market, which operates 11am-2pm on Tuesdays. Then we enjoyed Dolcezza Gelato after our engaging bubble experience.

If this is your first time at CityCenterDC, you should know that you can go through the shooting fountain as much as you wish, however, it is not an actual splash park. So, swim suits and pool toys are not allowed. I get around this by wearing a skirt or shorts over my swim suit. Boys swim trunks just look like shorts, so, that is fine. I also suggest wearing water shoes or flip flops in the fountain. There is a bathroom under the fountain if you wish to change clothes. So, make a day of this and have a great time interacting with the bubbles!
