Weekend brunch is one of my family's favorite meals. In the good 'ol days, we'd love to go out as a family to a restaurant for Sunday Brunch. With Covid, we've done more take-out brunch at home from local restaurants. Now that MoCo restaurants are open at 25% capacity again, some of you might be ready to dine in again - and brunch is a great way to get started! We've put together a list of some of the best brunch/breakfast spots in Rockville and Gaithersburg. Happy brunching!
186 Halpine Rd, Rockville; 301-468-0682
Dishes we love: Mosaic is known for its delicious waffles . . . . regular or gluten free, sweet or savory, these are worth a try! Feeling more like lunch - Mosaic has a wide variety of sandwich offerings, still served on their incredible waffles - it doesn't get better than that! Specializing in casual French food but offering deliciousness with influences from all over the globe, Mosaic is one restaurant the whole family will enjoy!
Botanero Restaurant
800 Pleasant Dr. Suite 160. Rockville; 240-474-5461
Dishes we love: Botanero is known for its globally inspired cuisine. Offering "Destination Dinners" featuring different cuisines from across the globe and "Paella Nights", Botanero is a winner for anyone enjoying delicious culinary adventures. For weekend brunch, the Beinets are heaven sent and their various benedicts are delicious. Even at brunch you can globe trot at Botanero, though - empanadas, quiche, shrimp and grits and more mean there is something for everyone on the weekend! Botanero also offers a broad specialty cocktail list, and a bottomless option at a very reasonable price!
239 Spectrum Ave., Gaithersburg; 240-690-7003
Dishes we love: When the weather is nice, Barking Mad is one of my kids' favorite places to go. That's because there is a large open green space right next to the restaurant's patio where they can run and play. We love Barking Mad for the awesome brunch! Offering a family friendly assortment of dishes, my kids love the pizza and pancake options (there are some fancy delicious pancakes on the menu, too!) I love the avocado toast and huevos rancheros, and have really enjoyed the crab cake benedict, too. Brunch is currently offered Friday through Sunday, from 9:00am to 2:30PM, with last call for ordering at 2:15pm. There is a bottomless mimosa option available, as well!
Summer House Santa Monica
11825 Grand Park Ave., North Bethesda; 301-881-2381
Dishes we love: Summer House in Pike and Rose has a lovely outdoor dining space and cheery indoor ambiance that is bound to help chase the winter blues away. Brunch is now served from 9:00am to 3:00pm on the weekends. At 11:00am, Stella Barra pizza is available in addition to the Summer House brunch menu. Use this spot to talk about the wings and why you (or your readers) love them. Summer House offers a large selection of breakfast and lunch entrees at brunch. In a breakfast mood, the Chicken and Waffle and Mexican Hash Browns are standout dishes. For lunch, I love the Turkey Club and the Cobb Salad. My kids enjoy the pancakes and the Stella Barra pizza options - so we tend to come after 11!
Quincy's South Bar & Grille
11402 Woodglen Dr., Rockville; 240-669-3270
Dishes we love: Quincy's is offering an all you can eat brunch menu for $23.95. The all you can eat option also gives you access to Quincy's penny mimosas! Not feeling that ambitious? Quincy's has a great assortment of brunch menu items, including a build your own omelet option and a build your own breakfast burrito option that my kids love. Brunch is served on weekends from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
