Several great new subscription boxes to share!

Plus August Promo Codes for some Fantastic Boxes!

August 10, 2014
*I received a complimentary box from each of these companies in order to facilitate my honest review. No compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

You all know I am obsessed with several things. One is obviously Disney World, but a very close second is subscription boxes! My son loves getting mail...I love getting mail...and we both love surprises! I just received a few new boxes I wanted to share, along with some great promo codes for some of the boxes I currently subscribe to.

First up, Wantable.com. You may remember me mentioning Wantable a few weeks ago as I had ordered my review box but screwed up my profile quiz. I ended up with a box of fun rock'n roll type jewelry that I would have loved 15 years ago. I contacted Wantable customer service when I received the box and realized that I had based some of my answers on the pictures instead of the category the picture was supposed to depict. Wantable's customer service was amazing and they quickly jumped into action so I could mail back my first box, retake my quiz and try again. Oh, and I should mention, this is not just something they were willing to do for me. They offer a 100% refund guarantee if you do not love your box!

Wantable.com offers several different types of boxes. I tried the accessories box (and have decided to subscribe), but they also offer an intimates box, makeup box, and they have a fitness box coming soon. The accessories box can include jewelry, scarves, sunglasses and more. Wantable selects 4-5 items for you based on your quiz answers so it seems that no two subscribers gets the same box. Wantable is $36 per month per box if you sign up for a subscription, or $40 to sign up for a single box (both amounts include shipping).

My box had a value of over $100 and I seriously adore every piece! The Ettika bracelet is stunning as are the stacking rings. The long, layered mix-metal necklace is classic and stunning, and both pairs of earrings are perfect for my style and wardrobe! I have been wearing everything from this box and cannot wait for my next accessories box from Wantable!

And, with the very straightforward refund policy ("You can return your collection for any reason and we'll issue a full refund, no questions asked. Some orders may qualify for partial returns as well."), I am thinking of trying some of their other subscriptions as well since I have nothing to lose!

On to two great new subscriptions for kids!

Agent Ribbit just sent out their first box and they were kind enough to send me one to review. This box took me by surprise since we get several science boxes every month...but this one combined some of my favorite experiments, all in one box! Agent Ribbit is designed for kids ages 4-9 and costs $24.99 per month (includes free shipping). You can add a Partner Pack (for a sibling aged 4+) for $9.99, or if you have a sibling under four, you can add a Polliwog Pack made for kids 3 and under for just $3.99.

Each box contains everything you need to do 4 science-themed learning activities with your little detectives. No combing through science books, no testing eight different volcano recipes to see which one actually works, no need to order 100 pipet droppers because you need just one. And everything you need for the projects is in the box!

July's Agent Ribbit box contained everything we needed to make assemble petri-dishes, swab around the house, and grow our own bacteria. We were also able to trace how germs spread, see how clean our hands really are with "germ gel" and a black-light (included in the box!), and build our own influenza model. The instructions are super easy, and I love the extra investigation sheets they include to help your child put their new knowledge to use. I can see Agent Ribbit is going to be very successful with their fabulous boxes!

And last but not least, is the Kidadventures DoodleBug Busy Bags. DoodleBug Busy Bags is a monthly craft subscription for kids ages 3 - 8 which costs $15.99 per month (includes free shipping). Each month your child will receive a bag of 4 – 8 curated crafts and all the supplies your child needs to complete each activity. DoodleBug Busy Bags are fun, easy to complete, and help develop motor skills, creativity, hand-eye coordination, and confidence.

So, when DoodleBug Busy Bags offered to send me a Busy Bag to try, I figured I would give it a shot. I really did not know what to expect. When the package arrived, I saw lots of fun foam projects but was not sure about the educational aspect. My almost 7-year-old son and I sat down to start going through the projects. The first thing I noticed was that the big bag contained many smaller bags that look like the OTC crafts I do at the Mac Kid tables I run at festivals. As I dug deeper, I realized that is because many of the crafts are from OTC. But, this is a way to get one foam crab magnet and not 48 of them (just an example).

In addition to the pre-packaged craft kits, there is a great info sheet that tells you what you can teach your kids using several of the crafts. In the bag we reviewed, my son put together a thermometer and a sun-dial and the Doodlebug instructions gave us lots of great teachable ideas. I also really appreciate that Doodlebug includes a supply bag with brand-name, high-quality supplies such as Crayola markers, Elmer's glue-stick, etc. The bag included everything we needed to complete the crafts which was also really nice.

I could definitely see ordering a few months of DoodleBug to put away for a rainy day when my son (and sometimes his friends) are bored and looking for fun and simple crafts they can accomplish themselves. And score for never ordering 48 foam crabs just so we can make one ever again! And, DoodleBug Busy Bags gave us a special coupon code for 30% off your first bag of a monthly subscription, RGMK30. The coupon will expire on 9/18/14.
