By Kara Murphy June 21, 2022

The newest picture book in the bestselling Pout-Pout Fish series takes on a serious topic: Anxiety.

Anxiety is an issue more and more kids are grappling with, and The Pout-Pout Fish and the Worry-Worry Whale aims to help jumpstart a conversation about those feelings with young kids, while also giving them useful ways to overcome anxious moments.

The story shows Mr. Fish — a Pout-Pout Fish character favorite — helping his friend with her anxiety in a gentle, encouraging, and empowering way.

Readers will witness Willa Whale, a brand new character to the series, encountering realistic worries:

Willa Whale is full of worries! Will the party be too loud?
Will she find someone to talk to? Will she get lost in the crowd?

Willa learns how to overcome her worries with the aid of Mr. Fish. With Mr. Fish's help, young readers will learn useful ways to face their own worries, including breathing, making plans, and taking tiny steps.

The Pout-Pout Fish and the Worry-Worry Whale is the latest in the New York Times bestselling series from Deborah Diesen, who lives in Michigan with her family.

Swim along with The Pout-Pout Fish and Willa Whale as they explore the world of worry. Together, they might just learn that when worry swims inside us, there are things that we can do!
