Pinktastic fun: Pinkalicious, the Musical

By Allison Fort June 29, 2014
What happens when you have too much of a good thing? Pinkalicious Pinkerton finds out the hard way in Adventure Theatre MTC's Pinkalicious, the Musical.

There's no such thing as enough pink for Pinkalicious, especially not when it comes to cupcakes. But when she has just one more after mommy and daddy say no, something happens: Pinkalicious wakes up pink! Her parents are in a panic and her little brother is jealous Pinkalicious is getting all the attention (and all the pink). Will she give up her beloved pink treats and eat the green foods she needs to be herself again?

We've read the Pinkalicious books many times over in our house, and it was so much fun to see the story brought to life. While there are some new twists in the plot in this musical version, the set looks very much like the books, right down to the pink flowers in the park and the chandeliers in the Pinkertons' house. The songs are fun and catchy, and my daughter especially loved the singing cupcakes that serenade Pinkalicious as she sleeps. Pinkalicious' brother Peter sings a sweet song about being a boy who loves pink too.

Pinkalicious, the Musical is a fun show and perfect for kids of all ages - no scary bits from start to finish. It runs through August 31, 2014. Tickets are $19 each, and group and field trip rates are available. There are two special performances: a sensory/autism friendly performance on August 23 at 2:00 pm and an ASL interpreted performance on July 5 at 2:00 pm.
