Macaroni Recipe: Bird Nest Cookies

By Kyrie Collins, Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock Publisher April 10, 2012

This recipe uses only three ingredients and will be ready to eat in 15 minutes or less. Use up some of those Easter jellybeans and celebrate the return of all those birds that traveled south for the winter at the same time!

Bird Nest Eggs

  • 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups of twigs (use All-Bran cereal, crunchy chow mein noodles, or shredded coconut)
  • Leftover Easter jellybeans (can also substitute peanut M&Ms or any other oval candy)
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in a glass bowl. Stir in whatever you're using for twigs. Drop by the spoonful onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Quickly add jellybeans so they stick to the melted chocolate. Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes, or till set. Present them to people and watch them disappear!
