Weekly Open Gyms & Storytimes

A great, free or low cost way to keep your kids entertained

Do you need to get the kids out of the house? Too hot, or cold, or rainy to go outside to play? Here is a list of local businesses that offer FREE weekly story times, as well as low cost open gym or play.  I suggest arriving early as these events are very popular and fill up quickly.  If you find any of these need updating, please let me know right away at LaniM@macaronikid.com.

Mondays:

Tuesdays:

  • Child's Play @ Congressional Plaza 10:30am
  • Pottery Barn Kids @ White Flint 11am-11:30am
  • Tiny Tots Drop In @ Thomas Farm Community Center 10am-noon (requires membership)

Wednesdays:

  • Barnes & Noble - Rockville Pike 10am
  • Barnes & Noble - Washingtonian Center 11am

Thursdays:

  • Discovery Sports Center- 10am-noon (ages 1-10, $2, infants free)
  • Tiny Tots Drop In @ Thomas Farm Community Center 10am-noon (requires membership)

Fridays:

  • Open Gym @ MarVaTots' n Teens - 11-noon (all ages $10)
  • Tumbling & Trampoline @ MarVaTots'n Teens - 7:30-8:30 (Ages 8+ $15)


Saturdays:

The Rockville, Quince Orchard & Twinbrook libraries also offer a wide variety of story times depending on the age of your child.  Please check the local library schedules here.  Also check out free kids clinics Home Depot.  Another great, free place to play for kids 2-6 is The National Building Museum!
