Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGlinden Review

And Your Chance to Win a Copy!

April 4, 2011

Have you ever heard of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer?  I will be the first to admit that I really hadn't, esp. since I have an almost 4 year old son and the name made me think this book was tailored to little girls...but let me tell you...I was wrong!  This book has become one of my son's favorites so I've had a chance to read it MANY times now.

Children across the globe all have one thing in common: they want to feel loved, safe, and secure.  But, in today's troubled world, that can seem like a tall order.  With the economy still struggling, the divorce rate hovering at 50%, and family members scattered far and wide, many children are left feeling insecure and lonely.  Enter the lovable character of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and her canine sidekick Moopus McGlinden in Jennifer Kelman's new book, Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGlinden Burn the Rrrrump Rrrroast.  Drawing from her experience as a social worker, Kelman writes from a child's perspective and reminds readers that all children want to feel safe and loved; helping someone in need is always a priority; silly names, accents, and pronunciations always delight; learning to share a good book is a lifelong journey; and how important it is to feel good about yourself, just the way you are.

In this delightful story about helping a little boy forget his sadness, Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus entertain Henry with a fun story that captures children's attention and leaves them wanting to hear more and asking what happened next!  I already know we will have to order the next book when it is available as I love the author's fun way of telling a story and captivating her young audience.
