I hope everyone made it through the earthquake and hurricane last week. Now there is a sentence I never thought I would be typing! I was downtown for the quake and it scared the daylights out of me. Irene was more of a non-event at our house. We got the rain and wind, but have definitely had much more damage in regular thunderstorms in the past. (yes, I am knocking ...
Sesame Street Live - Elmo Makes Music!
Is Coming to Baltimore! And YOU can WIN Tickets from Macaroni Kid Rockville!
Mark your calendar for this once-in-a-lifetime event—monsters becoming musicians! Elmo, The Count, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert & Ernie and all their funny and furry friends are taking to the stage to share the magical world of music with children. When Jenny, the new Sesame Street music teacher, moves into town, her instruments get lost. Jenny’s new Sesame Street friends quickly come to her rescue, and they all discover "instruments" that they never knew existed…rubber duckies, trash can lids and even their own laps! The characters teach children ...
Food Allergy Awareness
A mom's point of view
It is hard enough dropping a child off for school, especially during the first few days in September...but add in a life-threatening food allergy and it becomes frightening. Leaving my soon-to-be 4 year old, will be something I am never 100% comfortable with...his peanut allergy is so severe that accidentally ingesting even 1/100th of a single peanut will send his body into anaphylactic shock and land him in the hospital.
Food allergies DO NOT run in our family, but it is now second nature for us. We ...
Chili Macaroni
Super Easy, and ALWAYS a hit with the kids!

- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 package chili seasoning
- 1 can chili beans, undrained
Here's what you do:
- Put the noodles, corn, cheeses ...
Always Remember! Talking to your Kids about 9/11
September 11, 2001 will be a date many Americans will never forget. A day that no matter how hard you might try, you'll always remember what you were doing at that exact time you heard about the first plan crash. I do. I was heading to my child development and psychology class. I was already in the halls when someone ran out of a room and said “A plane hit the tower.” Normally, I'd ignore out of blue things like that, but panic was in his voice and ...

Let's Get a Little Personal
So, I must say Medifast is making a difference. While I did not lose any weight last week, I am feeling much better. I can tell I have much more energy then I had a few weeks ago and feel like my clothes are fitting better. I am also not getting as swollen in my legs and feet. As promised, this week I want to tell you how I handled eating out several times for business meetings and attending two parties while staying on plan.
First, let me just say ...
