First, a big hello to all our new subscribers! The Macaroni Kid Germantown publisher, P.J,. and I had a great time meeting so many of you at Kentlands Day.  I know some of you are joining our Macaroni family after meeting the Macaroni Kid Bethesda publisher, Elisabeth, at Celebrate Mama as well.  I also need to thank a very special subscriber, Karen Reyes, who came out and ran our booth for a while and gave me a much needed break!

With the warm weather making more frequent appearances, reminding us that summer is just around the corner; my neighborhood seems to be coming to life.  Usually watching all the kids outside playing evokes a sweet appreciation of the simple things in life.  But lately I am disturbed.  I see so many children riding through my neighborhood, on bikes, skateboards and roller blades, without helmets.  It literally makes me cringe.  One of my daughter's friends explained that "she wasn't going very far."  It made me wonder just how far ...

Materials Needed:

1 clean 1-liter soda bottle

Craft knife

Wooden spoon

Twine for hanging

Start by deciding where your spoon will go.  It will be the perch for your bird while it eats.  Mark the area for the hole needed on the front and back of the bottle.

Arnold Lobel's well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale's musical. “Archaeology Day is really an introduction to archaeology for all ages,” says M-NCPPC Department of Parks Archaeologist Heather Bouslog. “Previous participants have found antique toys, pottery pieces, animal bones — and some have even found a new career or brand new hobby!” Archaeology Day features a public dig at Needwood Mansion with Parks Archaeologist Heather Bouslog and archaeology program volunteers. The day’s activities also include tours of the Needwood Mansion, storytelling and old-time games and crafts. Participants are reminded to bring a bag lunch and to wear digging clothes.

Are you tired of sleepless nights? We can help!

Allison Smith, of Everyone Sleeps, will be here to talk about the 5 reasons your child didn't sleep last night and (more importantly) what you can do about it! As a part of the event, there will be a Q & A session where you can ask your individual questions about YOUR child or children

Allison works with the families of children 6 months to 6 years old to find ways to get them to f...all asleep on their own, sleep through the night, and take long restorative naps WITHOUT leaving them to cry it out alone.

Do you need to get the kids out of the house? Too hot, or cold, or rainy to go outside to play?
